Answers to common questions about our business!
What is a hand pie?
Hand pies are our take on a vehicle for hand-held fruits and vegetables. We call them hand pies rather than empanadas or patties because
By baking and freezing our hand pies, we are able to ensure they remain as fresh and high quality as possible without adding any stabilizers or preservatives.
How do you eat the hand pies?
Our hand pies are fully cooked and frozen, so all you need to do is reheat your pies to serve. We like to reheat them in the toaster oven or oven. Just unwrap your pie and warm it on a tray in a 350 degree oven for 10-15 minutes if frozen OR let your pies thaw and it will take 4-6 minutes to rewarm your pies.
Is your kitchen certified gluten-free?
The short answer is no, we do not have a certification to be fully gluten-free. We are a small company and therefore working out of a shared kitchen with other producers. We do not use any products with gluten, so we can say that none of our products have cross contamination with each other. However, we do have one other producer in our kitchen that is not strictly gluten-free.
Is your kitchen peanut-free?
We do not use any peanuts or peanut butter in our products. We do have almonds, cashews and pecans present in our operations.
Are you a full-scale retail bakery?
No , we do have a kitchen that you are welcome to visit. However, we are not a retail bakery where you can typically walk in and buy a hot hand pie. You are welcome to come by our kitchen and purchase what we have in stock if you happen to be in our area.
How do you get to your kitchen?
We are located in the back side of the building at 529 N Central Avenue in Hapeville. To get to our door, you will pull into 535 N Central Ave which is a clinic. Pull to the back right side of the parking lot and you will see a set of black steps. Our door is at the top of those steps.
